too early for separation anxiety?

Last night we decided to let Kat-Kat and Papa Jeff babysit so that we could actually go out. All went well while he was there and the outing was productive for me as well. We went shopping and apparently having a baby did something for my figure because I've never put on so many pairs of pants that fit, let alone the shirts that didn't look like empty bags in the chest area. Anywho..the point of the story is that once we returned to Mom's house Jack decided that he needed to nurse-though he had just had a bottle. The fussy baby act continued once we got home and he was not happy unless he was nursing or laying just at my chest sleeping. Anything else was less than acceptable and he let us know by crying the most horrible cry I've ever heard. Fast forward to 3 AM and the two of us are awake, I've given up on him sleeping in his own room at this point and have him laying in the little crib in our room. He's all nice and sleepy, quiet and barely able to keep his eyes open at this point. That is until I move out of his line of sight, then the crying continues. The only way I could get this child to sleep and stay sleeping was laying with my head at the foot of our bed and my arm stuck through one of the slats in the crib to put my hand on his stomach. I laid there for over an hour with him clutching my hand with both of his until he finally relaxed his arms. So one hour of sleep later and of course it was time to nurse again. I think I jinxed myself with that crazy post yesterday...routine...HA!

Yeah, bragging about your awesome post-baby figure is a big mommy faux-pas, punk:) Also, the weird clingy thing is a pretty normal phase, sleep patterns change everday when they're so little. It's annoying, but true, you just have to be consistent. Hard with a newborn though, I know. THe clingy issue was probably a response to sensory overload: being in a different place for so long with different people probably overstimulated him a little. Or maybe Dad let him watch Jurassic Park...:)
